ABOUT WORKSHOP:
Spice are to food what heart is to human body. They can be
found everywhere, from your garden to kitchen, from your medicine cabinet to
your cosmetics pouch, in fact, if you look well, even in your bathroom. They add
not just taste to your food but also health to your life. They strengthen your
immunity and guard you against bacterial and viral infections as they contain
essential minerals like potassium, iron, magnesium which are vital to healthy
bodily functions.
India is a land of many spices like cinnamon, turmeric, basil,
asafoetida, bay leaf, and cloves etc., which are known worldwide for the numerous
benefits they offer. Essentially, spices are seeds, fruits, roots, bark or other plant
substances used primarily to give flavor, color to food or to preserve them. They
can be distinguished from herbs which are leaves, flowers or stems of plants and
are used as flavoring or garnish.
For us Indians, spices are considered as integral part of our
lives as they are used on a daily basis in Indian households. They make food
easier to digest and give them a unique taste. Most spices have other unique
properties which can promote not only good health but also glowing skin if
incorporated in the right manner in skincare routine.
Spices have gained huge popularity in the last two decades,
however, there still remains a lot about them to be discovered. So let’s spice up
our taste buds and build immune system by including healthy spices in our diet.
